NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / October 25, 2026 / Exercise helps you build your strength, boost your mood and increase your energy levels. But many people may feel put off by the cost, especially if they have a lot of other financial obligations weighing on them.

Fitness doesn't have to be expensive, however. There are many ways to work out at home that can make a significant difference in your health. Just as a debt consolidation loan helps make it easier to tackle your debt, home workouts can make it easier to reach your fitness goals.

Here are a few beginner-friendly home workout routines to try. These allow you to control your workout schedule, intensity and environment. Taking a flexible approach to your workouts can make it easier to show up every day, which is the key to getting results.

Warm up

Warming up your body helps protect you from injury. Stretching, shaking your limbs, and gently moving through your body's full range of motion can help you loosen up your muscles and get them ready to work.

Bodyweight strength exercises

Strength training is one of the best ways to build strong bones and resilient joints. But you don't need expensive barbells or weight machines to get strong - all you need is the weight of your own body and a little bit of room to move.

Squats and lunges

Squats and lunges help you build leg and core strength, as well as balance. Start by doing 10 squats and 20 lunges (10 on each side), with a 30-second rest in between. Don't rush- go slowly to make sure you maintain good form throughout the entire movement. Repeat twice.

Push-ups and pull-ups

Push-ups are a great way to build up your arms, chest and back. If you can't do a traditional push-up yet, try wall push-ups or knee push-ups instead. Start by doing two rounds of 10.

Pull-ups are another great way to hit a lot of upper-body muscle groups at once. If you can't do a pull-up yet, focus on simply hanging from the bar for 30 seconds at a time (called dead hangs). Do two rounds of 10 pull-ups or dead hangs.

As with squats and lunges, go slow and concentrate on form.

Core exercises

One of the best gifts you can give yourself is a strong core. A strong core can improve your posture, reduce back and neck pain and help you maintain good balance and form when you exercise.

Crunches and planks

Both crunches and planks engage your abdominal muscles and help stabilize your spine. Try two rounds of 10 crunches and two rounds of three 30-second planks to start.

Glute bridges and bird dogs

Glute bridges and bird dogs help train and strengthen the muscles in your hips, back, and core. Start with 10 of each. Again, focus on steady movement instead of speed.

Cardio

You don't need a treadmill or elliptical to get your cardio training in. Anything that gets your heart pumping will do. Try doing 30 seconds of cardio between each strength exercise to keep your heart rate up and build endurance.

Indoor walking

Indoor walking is a great, low-impact way to improve your cardiovascular health. Power-walk around your house or yard, march in place with high knees or step side to side with gentle arm swings.

Jumping jacks or jump rope

If you want more of a challenge, jumping is a great way to get your heart racing. You can use a jump rope, if you have one, or just do jumping jacks.

Dancing

Dancing is a great way to make exercise not feel like exercise. Put on some music that you like and let your body move. Don't think about it too hard, and don't let yourself get too self-conscious (close the curtains, if you need to).

Cool down

Close your workout with more stretches and gentle movement to promote recovery and reduce stiffness.

Build a routine you can stick to

Here are a few home workout best practices:

  • Block time on your calendar and treat it like any other non-negotiable work meeting or doctor's appointment
  • Start with two or three days a week, and build up from there
  • Pair exercising with things you enjoy, such as a podcast or a playlist

Invest in yourself

As your fitness journey progresses, you may find that you want to invest in a treadmill or barbells in order to keep your momentum going. If you're looking to gradually build a home gym, a personal loan could help. Use a personal loan calculator to help understand whether the monthly payments are feasible, and how quickly you may be able to pay the loan off.

Don't let perfection stand in the way of progress, however. Just keep showing up for yourself however you can.
