Longtime Field Technician brings hands-on expertise, safety focus, and QA leadership

Duthie Power Services is thrilled to announce the appointment of Paul Lewis as its new Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator. Paul is a native Southern Californian who has logged thousands of miles on SoCal freeways as one of Duthie Power's Generator Experts. Before joining Duthie, he honed his skills as a welder/fabricator in the structural steel industry and as a fitter in aerospace. His career at Duthie began as an oil changer-starting humbly and learning everything hands-on. “I started knowing just the basics, and all my knowledge came from hard work in the field,” Paul shares. “I paired up with senior technicians, asked them questions on-site, and even called them for troubleshooting advice when needed.” Through this dedication, Paul earned his EGSA Journeyman Certification and accumulated positive feedback from countless customers.

Going beyond the tools and diagnostics, Paul's favorite aspect of commercial generator work is the variety it brings: “You're never in the same spot every day…I may work on the same equipment, but I'm somewhere new every day-and I love that.” Now, stepping into his QA leadership role, Paul aims to strengthen communication between field technicians, the office, and customers-focusing particularly on elevating safety and customer connection.

Duthie Power's Quality Assurance program-formally launched two years ago under the guidance of Director of Operations Randy Gross-is a hallmark of the company's commitment to excellence. Unlike most firms that limit QA to controlled environments, Duthie empowers field technicians to be active participants in quality checks-not for fault finding but for recognition and growth.

At Duthie:

— New technicians receive job sample reviews within their first 90 days.

— All technicians undergo multiple QA evaluations annually.

— Any corrective feedback is communicated directly to leadership for support and development.

— QA successes are highlighted at safety meetings to build morale and share best practices. (Duthie Power)

Paul's promotion reinforces this ingrained culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and shared success.

“Paul has earned this role by proving himself time and again in the field,” said Randy Gross, Director of Operations at Duthie Power Services. “He started from the ground up, mastered each technical level, and always prioritized safety and quality. With his ability to connect with both technicians and customers, he's uniquely positioned to elevate our QA program and strengthen communication across the company.”

Outside of the workplace, Paul is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys camping, off-roading, and all things adventurous. What's at the top of his list? Getting behind the wheel of a Sand Drag vehicle.
