Edia Partners with San Francisco, Cincinnati, Wichita, and Denver Schools to Improve Math Proficiency With AI

Edia launches new research initiative with Gates Foundation support to address critical learning gaps as more than half of U.S. students fail to achieve math proficiency

Edia today announced strategic partnerships with school districts in San Francisco, Cincinnati, Wichita and Denver to deploy its AI-powered math education platform in response to the nation's growing mathematics proficiency crisis. With over 50% of U.S. students currently performing below grade-level standards in mathematics, these partnerships represent a critical intervention to improve student outcomes.

The initiative, launched with support from the Gates Foundation, will provide thousands of students with personalized AI-driven math instruction designed to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps, while producing important insights on how Edia's innovative AI features improve student motivation, engagement, and learning. Edia's platform uses advanced algorithms to adapt to each student's learning pace and style, offering targeted support where it's needed most.

“The math proficiency crisis in our nation demands immediate and innovative solutions,” said Joe Philleo, CEO and Founder, Edia. “By partnering with these forward-thinking school districts, we're bringing cutting-edge AI technology directly into classrooms to help students build confidence and competency in mathematics.”

Transforming Math Education at Scale

The program will provide support to 5,000+ students in each school district. Implementation will begin at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year with the program supporting students for the entire 2025-26 school year.

The primary goal is to accelerate growth in math proficiency as measured by district benchmarks and end-of-year state testing. The initiative will also study the impact personalized AI Math Coaching can have on learning outcomes and identify which features most effectively drive student motivation, engagement, and perseverance in mathematics.

“We've always known that great math instruction means meeting students where they are, and now we have stronger tools to do it even more effectively,” said Jessica Piwko, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Denver Public Schools. “Edia gives our educators the ability to understand each student's unique needs and provide immediate, targeted support. This technology builds confident problem-solvers.”

“In alignment with our district's Vision, Values, Goals and Guardrails, we are committed to college and career readiness for our students,” Devin Krugman, Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Instruction, San Francisco Unified School District. “The ability to pilot Edia is an exciting opportunity to leverage 21st century tools to support the diverse academic needs of our students towards this goal.”

“We are excited to pilot this supplemental resource and leverage advanced technology to support our District's goals to improve math achievement and advance educational equity,” said Amy Randolph, Assistant Superintendent, Office of Secondary Education, Cincinnati School District.

“Wichita Public Schools is committed to improving student outcomes by leveraging cutting-edge tools and strategies at the forefront of educational innovation.
