2025 Corporate Finance & Accounting Talent Research Study

Employers Market Trends Gain Momentum

The results of the 2025 national study of corporate finance and accounting (F&A) talent or human resources is now available in a published report by the Controllers Council. The research identifies F&A hiring plans, changing Hybrid work models, shifting compensation, and more.

The 2025 Corporate Finance & Accounting Talent Study was conducted in May to July of 2025 via a national survey of Controllers, CFOs and related executives across a wide range of industries and company sizes. Despite widespread reporting of CPA and accountant shortages, the study identified only modest shortages, and contrarian decreases in both hiring and compensation, likely driven by rapidly changing economic, political and technology environments.

Key findings include modest but continued decreases in F&A hiring, hybrid work models dominating but full onsite models steadily growing, and lower compensation increases and outlooks in comparison to prior years, reinforcing a continued shift to an “employer's” market.

“This year's corporate finance and accounting talent study continues to uncover insights into managing professional human resources in challenging environments,” states Neil Brown, Controllers Council Executive Director. “Our important study includes a wide range of topics sure to help executives benchmark peers and achieve excellence.”
