TheBeauty Issuefeatures Rachel Anne Warren, owner of Frederick Wig Company, as the cover woman and a subject of the magazine's powerfulPerception of Beautyfeature. Known for her work helping individuals experiencing hair loss reclaim their confidence, Warren's approach to beauty goes far deeper than surface level.
“I had no idea I would be on the cover of Sass,” said Warren. “When Nicole of Spilt Polish Salon dropped me a line that day, congratulating me, I was stunned! I felt honored, more than anything. And I wondered if anyone who doesn't know me would realize I'm wearing a wig!”
Warren also reflected on her connection to the publication and the broader local community:
“Every issue of Sass shows me just how big Frederick is, how strong the community of women, and how much more there is to explore.”
The issue features stories of more than a dozen local women and their businesses in a multi-faceted celebration of beauty, from business spotlights to hands-on giveaways. In addition to over 50 women-owned businesses that advertised in this issue, it also includes:
— 10 spotlights featuring women-owned businesses across the beauty and wellness industries
— A “Woman to Watch” profile on Jordan Lewis of JKW Beauty
— A Business Spotlight on The Artist's Palette Salon and Gallery
— A Perception of Beauty editorial featuring four local women business owners
— And a makeover giveaway for two recipients, including professional hair, makeup, and photography – all provided by female-owned businesses in Frederick
The issue also explores trending and innovative topics in the beauty world, including the viral TikTok trend The Everything Shower, forward-thinking pieces on Biohacking Your Beauty Routine and The Beauty Digital Revolution, featuring insights on how AI, AR, and other technologies are reshaping the industry.
“After the incredible response we had to our 2022 Beauty issue, we knew we had to bring it back for another round,” said Kim Dow, Sass Magazine Founder and CEO. “Beauty is something we all connect with, in deeply personal and sometimes complicated ways. With this issue, we wanted to go deeper – beyond an Instagram-worthy flawless contour or perfectly curated skincare collection – and explore beauty in all its forms: physical, emotional, and yes, even technological.”
All articles in theBeauty Issuewere written by women, and the project reflects Sass Magazine's continued dedication to female-forward storytelling, inclusive narratives, and community celebration.
