There has been a consistent backlog of coach bus repairs and fleet inspections as required by the federal government, endangering the ability for buses to run their daily routes.
“We want our community to be able to get to school, work, and to all of the places that Madison has to offer, but things must change immediately at Metro Transit Madison to accomplish this,” said Tom Erickson, President of Local 120. “Teamsters in the maintenance department deserve better than a faulty bus system that can't function due to mismanagement and inadequate staffing.”
With only a few weeks before Madison public schools and the University of Wisconsin return for the school year, Teamsters mechanics are going above and beyond to prepare for the influx of passengers that will accompany students returning to campus.
Since December 31, 2024, these 400 essential public transportation workers in Madison have been working under an expired contract.Bargaining is scheduled to continue the week of August 11, but maintenance issues cannot wait until then to be addressed.
Teamsters Local 120 proudly represents 15,000 hardworking men and women in over 300 companies in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. For more information, visit teamsterslocal120.org.
