APTIM Awarded RADMAC III Contract for Investigation and Remediation

The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command has trusted APTIM for radiological and environmental remediation expertise with three consecutive RADMAC awards since 2010.

APTIM has been selected for the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command's (NAVFAC) Remediation of Radiological Contaminants (RADMAC) III contract. The environmental firm will perform investigative and remedial actions at contaminated sites for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other government agencies, including sites on the Superfund National Priority List.

RADMAC III builds upon APTIM's previous RADMAC I and RADMAC II contracts, awarded in 2010 and 2017, respectively. APTIM's support of NAVFAC Southwest dates to the mid-90s at various bases in Southern California. In 2005, the firm began environmental projects in northern California at the Former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, Former Naval Station Treasure Island, and Former Naval Air Station Alameda.

“APTIM has a legacy of delivering radiological and environmental management expertise to the US military and federal installations,” APTIM Sr. Vice President of Remediation & Technical Solutions Ulrika Messer said. “We are invigorated by this new opportunity to safeguard the operations of our armed forces while honoring our mission of environmental stewardship, and we are proud to have done so for nearly three decades.”

RADMAC III work is expected to be performed primarily in California, plus various locations within NAVFAC Southwest, Atlantic, and Pacific areas of responsibility. APTIM's mission-critical radiological services include:

— Surveys

— Investigations

— Remediation

— Implementation of radiological controls

— Storage and handling of waste materials

— Reporting

APTIM is also equipped to perform non-radiological remediation in radiologically impacted areas, ensuring full compliance with licenses, health and safety protocols, and waste characterization and disposal standards. This contract award comes on the heels of APTIM's top five ranking in Engineering News-Record's hazardous waste category.
