This July, in recognition of Fibroid Awareness Month, Elix is amplifying the voices of those affected by sharing powerful stories, evidence-backed resources and free consultations with Doctors of Chinese Medicine to offer diet and lifestyle support for those who've struggled to find answers through traditional care.

To advance education and advocacy around fibroids, Elix is:

— Launching an IRB-approved independent clinical study evaluating the efficacy of personalized and organic herbal formulas for fibroid symptom support.

— Offering free 1:1 herbal consults with Doctors of Chinese Medicine for the rest of July to support individuals navigating fibroid symptoms ($20 value). This can be booked here.

— Publishing a Fibroid Resource Guide, answering top questions sourced from women nationwide-covering topics like how to advocate for yourself in the doctor's office, identify early warning signs, and incorporate evidence-backed diet and lifestyle modifications from a holistic East meets West perspective to support fibroids.

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus, affecting up to 80% of women by age 50, yet remain critically under-researched, stigmatized, and systemically neglected. Despite their prevalence, there are currently no long-term, noninvasive treatment options, largely due to gaps in understanding their molecular origins.

The burden is even greater for women of color and especially Black women, who are more likely to develop fibroids earlier, and experience substantial health issues, including heavy menstrual bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, infertility, pregnancy complications, and are the leading reasons for hysterectomy.

“This study is deeply personal-for me, for our community, and for the millions of women who've been told to just 'watch and wait' while living with pain, bloating, and heavy bleeding, month after month,”said Lulu Ge, founder and CEO of Elix. “We're aiming to clinically validate what so many of us already feel in our bodies: that there are holistic, non-invasive options for fibroid care. Through this study, we're bridging ancient wisdom with modern science-and building a movement for transparency, agency, and root-cause healing.”

Research has already shown that when Chinese herbs are used alongside conventional treatments, outcomes improve dramatically-fibroids shrink more, hormone levels balance more effectively, and debilitating symptoms like heavy bleeding and cramping become more manageable. A 2020 clinical protocol demonstrated that combining Chinese herbal medicine with Western treatment significantly outperformed conventional medicine alone-with fewer side effects. “In my practice, I've seen how addressing the root causes behind fibroids with Chinese herbal medicine can significantly reduce symptoms and improve overall well-being. That's why I'm so excited Elix is investing in research to highlight the power of personalized, organic herbal care in this deeply underfunded area of women's health.” – Dr. Le, Elix Medical Advisor.

A National Issue in Urgent Need of Research:

— Up to 80% of Black women and 70% of white women develop fibroids by age 50 (NICHD).

— The financial burden of fibroids in the U.S. reached $41.4 billion in 2022. (Source)

— Despite this, only $0.58 per patient is spent annually on fibroid research.

— Women wait an average of 3.6 years to receive a diagnosis. (Source)

— Having a family history of fibroids increases a woman's risk by 3x.

The NIH recently announced $15 million in new funding for fibroid research centers; however, none of these funds have been released to date and risk federal funding cuts.

“I love having a natural alternative that is safe and effective to offer my patients. Several of my patients with heavy periods have gone from ER visits and being homebound for days to living their lives normally while taking Elix. One even canceled surgery because she felt so much better. I've seen Cycle Balance has been effective for those with fibroids, and I'm excited to see research supporting its benefits.” – Dr. Ritch, Minimally Invasive Gynecologist and Elix Medical Advisor
