On June 7, 2025, Erie Insurance reported in an SEC filing that it had identified suspicious activity on its internal network related to a cybersecurity incident. The company promptly launched an investigation, working with third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the scope and nature of the breach. Erie issued an "Information Security Event" statement on its website on June 11, 2025, and notified law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing, and it was confirmed that the breach affected Erie’s core systems.
These files allegedly included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, policy details, and driver’s license numbers.
Erie released an update on June 14, 2025, on its website providing additional information about the network outage and its response efforts. Compensation may be available for those individuals who receive notice that their personal information was compromised.
