Consumer Alert: Nuna Baby Essentials Faces Class Action Investigation Following Safety Recall of Over 600,000 RAVA Convertible Car Seats

SchubertJonckheer & Kolbe LLP today launched an investigation into the recent safety recall of Nuna RAVA convertible car seats manufactured between July 16, 2016 and October 25, 2023. Purchasers of these potentially defective car seats are encouraged to contact the firm.

Nuna designs, manufactures, and sells a range of high-end products for children, including its popular RAVA convertible car seats. These seats can be adjusted from rear-facing to forward-facing as children grow. The recalled RAVA car seats may suffer from a serious safety defect where debris such as food or dirt can enter the area around the front harness adjuster button and prevent it from properly clamping onto the adjuster strap. This can cause the harness to not securely tighten (or even loosen), increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

On December 20, 2024, Nuna announced a voluntary recall of certain RAVA convertible car seats and began issuing notices to consumers on January 15, 2025, pursuant to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requirements. Under the recall, Nuna is offering “remedy kits,” upon request by the owner. These kits include a seat pad, headrest cover, cleaning kit, and care instructions. Over 600,000 RAVA car seats are believed to be affected by the recall. To date, Nuna has not offered to replace the car seats or financially compensate RAVA purchasers.

If you purchased one of these RAVA convertible car seats, it may not be safe to use. You also may be entitled to money damages or other remedies.
