NEW YORK, NY / ACCESS Newswire / February 24, 2025 / Fillmore County Hospital recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and protected health data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal and protected health information entrusted to Fillmore County Hospital.

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

On or about October 27, 2024, Fillmore County Hospital became aware of a security incident involving unauthorized access to an employee’s email account. Upon detection, Fillmore County Hospital launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation revealed that the unauthorized party maintained access to the email account until October 31, 2024. Fillmore County Hospital conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and to identify affected individuals, which concluded on December 18, 2024.

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal and protected health information may have been compromised as a result of the data breach: names and addresses, email addresses, dates of birth, ages, genders and race/ethnicity, medical record numbers, facility identification numbers, client identification numbers, account numbers and balances, payment card information, insurance information, dates of services, medical provider information, and one instance of a Social Security number. On February 13, 2025, Fillmore County Hospital issued a public notice regarding the breach and began notifying affected individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
