This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal or protected health information entrusted to Baker University.
WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?
In December 2024, Baker University became aware of a security incident on its network that resulted in a system outage. Upon detection, Baker University launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to certain files and folders between December 2, 2024, and December 19, 2024. Baker University conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals.
The impacted data may include names, dates of birth, Driver’s license numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, medical information, passport information, Social Security numbers, student identification numbers, and tax identification numbers.
On December 19, 2025, Baker University filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine and began notifying impacted individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who receive notice that their sensitive personal information or protected health information was compromised.
