On Saturday, September 27, the Saddle River community came together for a Princess Pancake Party for an afternoon of brunch, raffles, and auctions, culminating in a life-changing surprise for 6-year-old Serina, a leukemia warrior. Serina and her family were presented with a week-long, all-expenses-paid VIP vacation to Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld, with luxury accommodations at Give Kids the World Village.

The celebration also included family fun activities such as a bouncy house and a pony ride for Serina.

The Princess Pancake Party was part of the Adventure Ted Challenge, CCS's national campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds for families battling childhood cancer.

Hannah Gurevich, President of Rebels Against Cancer, reflected:

“Organizing this brunch in partnership with the Childhood Cancer Society was such a meaningful experience. It wasn't just about raising money-it was about showing kids battling cancer that they're not alone. Students like us care, and together we can make a difference.”

Tommy Head, Founder and CEO of Childhood Cancer Society, added:

“After beginning our partnership with the Saddle River community last year at Mayor Al and Judy Kurpis's benefit dinner, it was inspiring to continue that journey with Saddle River Day School. The incredible faculty and students poured their hearts into Adventure Ted's Princess Pancake Party, proving the powerful impact young people can have when supported by a caring community. This event was about more than fundraising-it was about creating a magical moment for Serina and showing her family that they are not alone.”

Sponsors of the event included Saddle River Day School, James Tracey Eye Care, Judith Greenberg, Sheila Greenberg, Little Nikki's Boutique, Saddle River Inn, and Peek-A-Booth.
