TheMuma Children's Hospitalat Tampa General Hospital(TGH) has been recognized as a top performer in the Pediatric Hospital cohort of the 2025 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient, Inc.The award honors health care provider organizations that demonstrate excellence in delivering high-quality care based on measures in the Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking, including safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency,patient-centeredness, and variation in care. Tampa General is among 10 health systems nationally and is the only in Florida to achieve this recognition.

The award includes measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base, the HCAHPS survey and the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, which informs the rankings, has been conducted annually since 2005 to help participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identify best practices associated with high performance in quality and safety.

This year, 1,220 participating hospitals were segmented into seven cohorts for theVizient Quality and Accountability Study. The study measures performance on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation in care. The study factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base. It includes performance data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey and the CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network. The Muma Children's Hospital at TGH was recognized alongside hospitals and health systems nationally that:
— Care for at least 250 high-acuity medical neonates annually
— Receive more patients transferred in for care than it transfers out, by a margin of more than 5%
— Perform at least 50 major surgeries on neonates annually
