“The Feast & Fettle Fridge will provide 200 free, nourishing meals for at-risk LGBTQ+ youth each week.”
Feast & Fettle has consistently supported LGBTQ+ causes through ongoing relationships with Family Equality and the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth (BAGLY). Throughout these partnerships, the company has donated more than $30,000 in food donations, funding and event sponsorships, as well as and volunteer support at local activations. Partnering with the Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest provider of services to LGBTQ+ homeless youth, on the first Feast & Fettle Fridge is a natural extension of that commitment.
“Opening a fridge and knowing there's food waiting for you is about more than a meal. It's about safety, dignity and knowing someone cares,” saidAlon Rivel, CMO of Feast & Fettle. “My hope is that every young person who opens the fridge feels supported and reminded, they are not alone.”
The Feast & Fettle Fridge will help the Ali Forney Center feed the more than 2,000 LGBTQ+ at-risk youth it serves each year by giving them access to ready-to-eat, homemade meals. The nourishment will not only sustain them, but also foster belonging and a sense of community.
“At the Ali Forney Center, we believe every young person deserves more than just shelter. They deserve a home, a place where they are affirmed as worthy of safety, warmth, community and love,” said Alex Roque, President and Executive Director of the Ali Forney Center. “Feast & Fettle's partnership allows us to live out this value, creating homelike environments where our youth can gather, share a meal and experience belonging. It is profoundly beautiful when companies like Feast & Fettle join us in this work, sending a powerful message to our young people that they are seen, cherished and deserving of connection, community and care – truly the magic of a family meal.”
Over the next year, Feast & Fettle will expand the Fridge program in partnership with like-minded organizations, bringing the next fridge to their own backyard of Providence, RI. Each fridge will be tailored to local needs, whether that means full meals, fresh juices or nourishing snacks, but always rooted in the belief that access to food is access to community and nourishment.
