A new movement inspires women to embrace midlife with honesty, strength, and radical self-possession
As the nation observes National Healthy Aging Month, a bold new voice is rising to help women reclaim midlife with humor, resilience, and confidence. Today marks the official launch of theReal Girls Guide (RGG) and its flagship community, the Real Girls Guide to Over 55 (RGG55). Founded by writer Angela Burk, RGG sparks honest conversation for women navigating their 40s, 50s, and beyond, redefining what it means to thrive in identity, wellness, and possibility throughout the decades ahead.
By 2030, women over 55 will represent nearly one-third of the U.S. female population (U.S. Census Bureau). Women over 50 also account for more than $15 trillion in spending power globally and are recognized as “super consumers” (Forbes). Yet despite their economic influence, women in midlife are frequently overlooked in mainstream wellness, beauty, and cultural narratives.
“Midlife isn't the end. It's a reset,” said Burk. “This generation of women is rewriting the rules, and RGG and RGG55 exist to provide a relatable, real-world voice to support them.”
What Followers Can Expect:
— New Website:The hub features essays, personal stories, community connections, and giveaways designed to help midlife women share experiences and grow together.
— October Healthy Aging Giveaway: RGG55 will host a curated wellness bundle featuring menopause-friendly products, self-care tools, and stress-relief resources.
— Book Sneak Peak (Winter 2025): Angela Burk's upcoming Real Girls Guide takes an unfiltered look at midlife, weaving her own story with expert perspectives of women worldwide. The result: a witty, honest, and inspiring exploration of life's messy middle.
“We need to resource up at defining moments, and with the Real Girls Guide and RGG55, Angela has built powerful resources for women at the defining moment of midlife. As a coach, I know clarity and growth don't come from going it alone – they come from conversation, insight, and community. Angela's raw, funny, and real-as-hell approach is the perfect fuel for powerful, transformative shifts,” said Ben Kiker, author, speaker, and coach.
A Movement for Real WomenRGG goes beyond a website and newsletter. The platform normalizes conversations around menopause, aging, mental wellness, career pivots, caregiving, relationships, and the transitions that often redefine midlife. Through her Substack, Burk has cultivated an authentic voice that resonates with women navigating similar challenges.
“Women in midlife are rewriting the narrative,” Burk said. “This isn't about decline. It's about radical midlife self-possession and possibility. RGG and RGG55 exist to say: You're not invisible. You're powerful, valuable, and just getting started.”
“RGG and RGG55 are becoming trusted spaces for women to connect, be seen, and know they're not alone,” shared Cris Amato, MSN, Founder of Grace Concierge. “We all benefit when attention and focus are finally given to women's lives at this stage.”
“I signed up for RGG from day one because I was craving something honest and relatable about midlife. What makes it so refreshing is the openness and the way Angela tackles the things even close friends tiptoe around. This space celebrates our stage of life with humor, insight, and connection. I knew right away it was something special. I feel seen,” noted Liz Alterman, journalist and author of six books, including Claire Casey's Had Enough.
