With a growing community of hospital systems and rural clinics, Wellvana's network delivers for patients across the nation, leading other hospital-based ACOs in key MSSP quality metrics.

Supporting over 800,000 patients across the country, value-based care enabler Wellvana's accountable care organizations (ACOs) saved Medicare $327M through the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) in performance year (PY) 2024.

The PY2024 preliminary results, recently released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), indicate that Wellvana is now the largest enabler of hospital-led and rural MSSP ACOs in the nation. Wellvana ACOs produced 3.0% gross savings versus other VBC enablers in Hospital-led ACOs at 2.1%.

Additionally, Wellvana's largest ACO achieved the single highest savings of all MSSP ACOs, generating $169M in Total Savings.

“These results show that Wellvana is uniquely attuned to the needs of providers and patients, helping MSSP deliver on its promise of lowering costs while improving care for the American people,” said Susan Diamond, Interim CEO, President, and CFO of Wellvana. “We're proud of what we and our partners accomplishedtogether, and even more encouraged by what these results mean for the people whose care and lives are directly improved.”

WellvanaACOs Outperform Hospital-led ACO in Key Quality Care Metrics for Patients

Wellvana ACOs were also leaders in MSSP Quality Metrics. Compared to other Hospital-led ACO enablers, Wellvana ACOs reported leading scores for Depression Screenings, Blood Pressure Control, and 30-day Readmit Rates.

Diverse ACO Network Includes Growing Footprint of Rural, Underserved Communities

From national health systems to rural independent providers, Wellvana's 40-state footprint represented 8% of all patients and 12% of all providers in MSSP.

This diverse coalition of partners represented 40% of all Critical Access Hospitals, 23% of all Rural Health Clinics, and 13% of all hospitals, across all MSSP participants.

“Without our Wellvana ACO partnership, care would look a lot different in this part of the country. With it, rural Minnesotans in the southeastern part of our state have experienced meaningful improvements in health, and our care delivery has transformed,” said Rachelle Schultz, President & CEO, Winona Health. “The PY2024 results show that value-based care can successfully serve vulnerable populations all over the country.”

Re-investing Back into Community with Technology Improvements and High-Touch Services

Building on these strong results, Wellvanawill continue investing in its ACO community, advancing patient-first enhancements to its Clarity by Wellvana™ analytics platform to unlock deeper insights, drive meaningful reductions in total cost of care, and deliver even better outcomes for patients.

“There are a lot of hard days in healthcare, so when moments like these come along, it's important to pause and celebrate,” said Aria Sameni, Wellvana's Chief Customer Officer. “But most importantly, what these numbers mean at the end of the day is that more patients experienced better health outcomes than they would have without value-based care. That's why this all matters.”
