Six emerging leaders from Hartford-area nonprofits will have the chance to strengthen their organizations and advance their education thanks to full scholarships from Goodwin University's Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) program. These scholarships will give nonprofit employees in the state the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and learn actionable management strategies that will have a direct impact on their teams, organizations, and the communities they serve.

Throughout the summer, the University reached out to nonprofits across the region to promote the new scholarship. The initial outreach received an overwhelming response; Goodwin received nearly four times more nominations than anticipated, a demonstration of both the urgent need for leadership development and the growing demand for support as many nonprofits face federal funding cuts.
For Danielle Chenard, a senior manager at Connecticut Children's, the opportunity is invaluable. “Receiving this MSOL scholarship extends beyond financial assistance; it is a vital investment in my potential to generate a profound and lasting impact. […] I am confident the MSOL will provide the refined acumen essential to making lasting, transformative contributions to the organizations and communities I serve.”
Fellow awardee Michelle Szynkowicz, founder and CEO of Catalyst Consulting, LLC, is eager to begin the program, noting it will equip her to pursue her vision as a leader. “The MSOL program is connected to my fundamental belief that if you live into your true authenticity and invest in the full potential of people, the results follow.” She adds that the scholarship makes her education possible. “Financially, I could not afford a master's program, and to have this opportunity and door opened through the scholarship is life-changing for me.”
Goodwin Founder and President Mark E. Scheinberg emphasizes how the initiative reflects the University's mission. “Goodwin University describes itself as a community-based organization. We exist to uplift our community, as a leader and a social and educational hub. One way to leverage our impact is to support our colleagues at other critical local nonprofits.”
President Scheinberg continues, “At Goodwin University, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools for creating lasting change – for individuals, their families, and their communities. By awarding these MSOL scholarships, we are not only investing in the professional growth of people, we're also strengthening the organizations that so many families across our state rely on – especially at a time when resources are stretched thin. When local nonprofits thrive, our entire region thrives.”
