The STARS Program is designed to address school-refusal behavior among students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade; it will prioritize providing comprehensive, evidence-based mental health services to support students struggling with attendance and underlying behavioral challenges, particularly those rooted in anxiety and trauma. The six new ABH therapists and therapeutic mentors will focus on early intervention and personalized treatment to address absenteeism before it escalates.
ABH and school staff from both FCPS and CCPS are excited to offer this vital service to families and students, and are equally committed to the goal of eliminating barriers to school attendance and promoting academic success.
