EBSCO Clinical Decisions today announced the appointment of Scott Silvers, MD, FACEP, as Chief Clinical Innovations Officer. In his role, Dr. Silvers will lead strategic initiatives to advance the integration of evidence-based care, knowledge-driven systems, and clinical reliability across the enterprise. He will focus on building the strategy, platforms, and partnerships that improve outcomes, reduce unwarranted variability, and ensure equitable access to high-value care.

A nationally recognized leader in emergency medicine and healthcare transformation, Dr. Silvers brings more than two decades of experience driving clinical excellence, knowledge management, and systems-based innovation. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 100 lectures internationally. He joins EBSCO Clinical Decisions from Optum Health, where he served as the Chief Medical Officer of Knowledge Management and the national leader for Quality and Patient Safety. Prior to Optum Health, Dr. Silvers also spent over 20 years at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida where he conceived and co-led the development of Ask Mayo Expert, Mayo Clinic's foundational knowledge management platform, which continues to power the institution's clinical decision support infrastructure today.

Now in its 25th year, Dr. Silvers serves as co-director of the International Clinical Decision-Making in Emergency Medicine Conference. He is also Chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians evidence-based Clinical Policies Committee, as well as a member of the American Heart Association's Emergency Cardiovascular Care Committee where he contributes to authoring national resuscitation guidelines.
Dr. Silvers earned his B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his medical degree from the University of Rochester. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, serving as chief resident.
