NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / August 25, 2025 / Aspire Rural Health System("Aspire") recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and protected health data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal and protected health information entrusted to Aspire.

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

On August 20, 2025, Aspire announced that it recently became aware of a security incident involving unauthorized access to its internal network, which occurred from approximately November 4, 2024, on or about January 6, 2025. Upon detection, Aspire launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to Aspire’s systems and acquired files containing sensitive information. Aspire conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data, which concluded on or about July 18, 2025, to determine what information was compromised and to identify affected individuals.

The impacted data may include first and last names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers and routing numbers, medical treatment and diagnosis information, prescription information, individual health insurance information, payment card numbers and access PIN numbers, payment card expiration dates, lab results, provider information, driver’s license numbers, password and usernames, biometric identifiers, patient identification numbers, medical record numbers, and passport numbers. The types of impacted information may vary by individual.

On August 20, 2025, Aspire filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine and began sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.Compensation may be available for those individuals who receive notice that their sensitive personal information was compromised.
