Veteran Federal Prosecutor Rachael Jones Joins McKool Smith

Rachael previously served as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division at the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas. She has more than two decades of experience handling high-stakes criminal matters.

Rachael served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Texas from 2015 to 2025 and was named Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in 2024. In that role, she supervised federal prosecutors, helped manage the division's hiring and budget, and maintained an active caseload involving complex federal criminal matters. Rachael has tried more than 80 jury trials across cases involving a range of issues from capital murder, child sexual assault, and arson- to securities, healthcare, and wire fraud. She has also tried two death penalty cases and conducted major investigations and prosecutions involving international drug trafficking conspiracies, tax fraud, and money laundering among other matters.

Before her federal service, Rachael spent more than a decade at the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, where she held several leadership positions, trained prosecutors, launched community-based prosecution initiatives, and served in the child abuse division. She began her career at the Bexar County District Attorney's Office and has been Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2009.

Rachael is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law and earned her B.A. in Business Communication from Westminster College in Missouri.
