Gentle Path at The Meadows Marks its 2,000th Patient and Growing to Meet the Need

Gentle Path at The Meadows, an internationally recognized program for men struggling with sex, love, and intimacy issues, has admitted its 2,000th patient as of early August, marking a major milestone in its decades-long history of treatment and recovery.

For more than 45 years, The Meadows has been a leader in treating trauma, addiction, and mental health conditions with evidence-based, compassionate care. For decades, our Gentle Path program in Wickenburg, Arizona, has carried that legacy forward as a national leader in sex addiction treatment. Founded by Meadows Senior Fellow, Dr. Patrick Carnes, who remains actively involved alongside Dr. Stefanie Carnes, Gentle Path continues to set the standard for clinical expertise and innovation.

Nestled on a 35-acre campus in the scenic Sonoran Desert just north of Phoenix, Gentle Path blends clinical rigor with a serene, home-like environment that promotes deep healing. Its therapeutic approach combines individualized and group therapy, trauma work, neurofeedback, EMDR, expressive arts, somatic experiencing, spirituality counseling, and wellness-based activities, empowering sustainable recovery.

Each admission marks more than a number, it's a person choosing to reclaim their life, restore relationships, and begin anew.

“In 2015, I came to Gentle Path with little hope that I had any options for a meaningful life,” shared one patient. “Within weeks, I not only truly knew myself for the first time, but I believed that change and growth were possible.”

Stories like this exemplify the mission of transforming lives through expert, compassionate care.

With more men seeking this life-changing treatment, Gentle Path is expanding, both in capacity and in depth. The program is currently growing to accommodate increasing demand, expanding family services, and integrating the latest research and evidence-based treatments to support recovery from sex addiction holistically.

“Our dedicated staff, whose skill and compassion make our work possible, allow us to be part of the healing journey of the 2,000 courageous men who have walked through our doors,” said Marie Woods, LMFT, CSAT-S, CMAT, CPTT, SEP, Executive Director of Gentle Path at The Meadows.

“It is this trust that fuels our commitment to even greater access, quality, and innovation.”
