Among the evening's featured artists is Los Angeles native and award-winning vocalist Stephanie Spruill, herself impacted by the Eaton Fire earlier this year. Now, she'll use her voice to help uplift her community with Tzu Chi. Spruill, who has inspired audiences worldwide, lost her home and recording studio to the Eaton Fire. On January 25, she joined other Altadena residents at Tzu Chi USA's San Gabriel Valley Service Center in El Monte, where volunteers offered emergency financial aid, warm eco-blankets, daily essentials, and heartfelt compassion. In addition to material aid, the goal of Tzu Chi's distributions is also to offer a space for sharing and strength as those impacted embark on the challenging journey of rebuilding their lives after tremendous loss and hardship. “At Tzu Chi, we strive to be among the first to arrive and last to leave,” said Debbie Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Tzu Chi USA. “Survivors have been through so much, but many found comfort with Tzu Chi, and we'll be here for them for the long haul.”

“I bought that house in 1977. Who knew – 49 years ago, 50 years ago – when I bought that house, this is how it would end. But it hasn't ended, because we have wonderful people like Tzu Chi reaching out,”Spruill reflected. “We're all in the same boat together. So, thank you, Tzu Chi. Help us continue to hope.”

Tzu Chi USA's volunteers have been on the ground since the fires began, delivering relief in person and committing to an ongoing recovery effort. Looking ahead, James Chen, Director of the San Gabriel Valley Service Center, confirmed, “This is not the end; it is the beginning of another journey.” However, the goodwill of people in the United States and beyond is essential to making that mid- to long-term aid journey possible.

“One person can go fast, but it takes a group of people to travel far,” said Stephen Denq, CEO of the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation, quoting Tzu Chi's founder, Master Cheng Yen. “I always tell the recipients that whatever they're receiving today is not from one individual, but from everybody. It's a collective love from people worldwide.”

For Tzu Chi USA, the accumulating love from people around the globe will fund the continuation of this long-term mission, as rebuilding will take at least five to seven years. Tzu Chi volunteers remain ever ready and determined, refusing to be discouraged by the time required to achieve full recovery.

Alongside Spruill, the concert will feature performances by Danny Shao, Linda Long, and RVRIE. The evening will blend moving music with stories of resilience, uniting art and compassion to make a lasting difference for those impacted by disaster.
