Not for Profit Megan Butz Legacy of Hope Announces Opening of 2025 Grant Cycle

Up to $250,000 Available for Illinois Organizations Providing Mental Health Services and Suicide Prevention Programs for Youth and Young Adults

MeganButz Legacy of Hope announces the opening of its 2025 grant cycle with $250,000 in funding available for Illinois-based organizations dedicated to providing mental health services focused on suicide prevention.

Since its founding in 2023, the not-for-profit has granted more than $300,000 to Illinois-based groups addressing mental health and suicide prevention. The grant program reflects Meg's Legacy of Hope's continued commitment to supporting community-based initiatives that save lives and provide critical mental health resources to those in need. Organizations across Illinois are invited to apply for funding that will directly impact suicide prevention efforts and mental health support services in their communities.

In Illinois, suicide is the 11th leading cause of death, resulting in more than 1,000 deaths each year. Among Illinois youth aged 10 to 14, suicide is the second-leading cause of death and the third-leading cause of death for young people aged 10 to 24, according to the National Institutes of Health.

“Every young life matters, and the persistent stigma around discussing suicide means too many children and families aren't getting the support they need,” said Larry Butz, founder and president of Meg's Legacy of Hope. “This funding cycle specifically targets organizations that are not just providing services, but actively working to normalize conversations about mental health and suicide prevention in age-appropriate ways.”

The 2025 grant cycle prioritizes funding for organizations that demonstrate:

— Evidence-based approaches to suicide prevention

— Direct service provision to Illinois residents

— Sustainable programming with measurable outcomes

— Cultural competency and accessibility in service delivery

— Collaborative partnerships within the mental health community

Eligible applicants can include non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and other qualifying entities based in Illinois that provide mental health services or suicide prevention programming.

— Grant amounts: Individual awards typically range from $5,000 to $35,000
