Ascension Health Data Breach under Investigation by Levi & Korsinsky, LLP

NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / May 23, 2025 / Ascension Health recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal and protected health data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal and protected health information entrusted to Ascension.

WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

On December 5, 2024, Ascension Health became aware of a security incident related to its former business partner. Upon detection, Ascension Health launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to sensitive personal and protected health information after Ascension inadvertently disclosed information to the former business partner, and that data was later compromised due to a vulnerability in the third-party software used by the partner.

Ascension Health conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals. On January 21, 2025, Ascension Health identified persons whose sensitive data was included in the impacted data. The potentially impacted files contained personal information including demographic information, such as name, address, phone number(s), email address, date of birth, race, gender, and Social Security number (SSN), as well as clinical information related to an inpatient visit, such as place of service, physician name, admission and discharge dates, diagnosis and billing codes, medical record number, and insurance company name.

On April 29, 2025, Ascension Health made a public disclosure and started sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.

WHY YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION?
