Zonta International Announces Two New Education Awards

Zonta International, a leading global organization building a better world for women and girls, is pleased to announce two new education awards: the Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award and the Zonta Women in STEM Award.

Representation is one of the most important drivers in encouraging women to pursue advanced education and careers and seek decision-making roles in the fields of business, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Zonta International is committed to expanding women's representation in these fields and ensuring equality of access and equality of opportunity for women through its fellowships, scholarships and awards.

“We believe that every woman and girl has the right to learn, to dream and to aspire to heights unbounded by the ceilings imposed by a history of disparity,” said Zonta International President Salla Tuominen. “Through our education programs, we will dismantle any barriers for education women and girls face and light the path towards a future where a woman's or girl's potential is limited only by her own imagination.”

To address the small percentage of female leaders in business, Zonta International has established the Zonta Women in Business Leadership Award. This award recognizes and honors women aged 18 to 35 who demonstrate outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and ethical behavior. It celebrates their contributions to their industries while addressing issues that affect women, girls and climate justice.

Starting in 2025, Zonta International will offer 10 international awards of US$10,000 each and a complimentary one-year supporting membership in Zonta International for the next financial year.

To celebrate the extraordinary achievements of women aged 18 to 35 in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, Zonta has established the Zonta Women in STEM AwardThis award spotlights groundbreaking research, pioneering discoveries and vital contributions that women make in advancing knowledge and innovation in STEM. Through this recognition, Zonta inspires future generations and champions inclusivity and diversity in the STEM community.
