The Independence Fund Endorses Legislation to Strengthen VA Accountability and Expand Veteran Access to Care

The Independence Fund, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of wounded Veterans, Caregivers, and their families, proudly announces its endorsement of H.R. 472 – Restore VA Accountability Act of 2025 and H.R. 740 – ACCESS Act of 2025.

The Independence Fund joins other organizations in supporting this reform and has issued a letter to Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins urging him to take action.

“PCAFC has provided life-changing support for thousands of Veterans with the most complex care needs; however, that support has been accompanied by fear and uncertainty in the community because of lingering doubt about program eligibility in 2025 and beyond,” the letter states. “We believe that your swift action can address those concerns and provide relief that thousands of Veterans and Caregivers have sought for nearly three years.”

These critical pieces of legislation address crucial issues facing Veterans and Veteran Caregivers, enhancing accountability within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and expanding access to vital healthcare services.

“These bills represent a significant step forward in ensuring Veterans receive the quality care and accountability they have earned through their service and sacrifice,” said Chief Operating Officer of The Independence Fund Clark Pennington. “The Independence Fund team remains active in Washington to advocate for those Veterans who sacrificed so much and need our help now.”

Through daily, first-hand experiences, The Independence Fund witnesses the challenges this community faces and advocates for reform on behalf of all Veterans and Caregivers. There are more changes needed, but The Independence Fund advocates for this legislation to be the next step.
