NEW YORK CITY, NY / ACCESS Newswire / February 24, 2025 / StepStone Private Wealth LLC recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach that compromised the sensitive personal data of individuals. This data breach has led to concerns over the security of sensitive personal information entrusted to StepStone.
WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?
On January 7, 2025, UMB Fund Services, Inc. ("UMB"), a financial institution that provides support services to the StepStone Private Venture and Growth ("SPRING") Pershing fund, became aware of a security incident. Upon detection, UMB launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party inadvertently accessed certain sensitive data. UMB on behalf of StepStone conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and identified affected individuals.
Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised as a result of the data breach: name, date of birth, Social Security number, and financial account information.On February 10, 2025, StepStone filed a notice notice with the Attorney General of Massachusetts and started sending out notice letters to the impacted individuals.Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
