WHAT’S THIS ABOUT?

Zacks Investment Research has reportedly suffered a significant cyberattack in June 2024, leading to the theft of sensitive user data. According to sources, attackers gained access to Zacks’ active directory as domain administrators, allowing them to steal source code from the company’s main website and 16 other assets. The attacker reportedly posted samples of the stolen data on an underground forum, offering the full dataset for cryptocurrency. In December 2022, Zacks disclosed unauthorized access to customer records affecting approximately 820,000 Zacks Elite product users who signed up between November 1999 and February 2005. In January 2023, Zacks reported another breach in which hackers accessed sensitive information of 820,000 customers between November 2021 and August 2022. Additionally, in June 2023, a database containing personal details of 8.8 million individuals was leaked.

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised as a result of the data breach: full names, usernames, email addresses, physical addresses, and phone numbers.Despite the recent allegations, Zacks has not confirmed the alleged breach and has not responded to media inquiries regarding the incident. If this data leak is verified, it would mark another significant breach impacting Zacks customers, potentially compromising even more sensitive information.Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
