The Brand Uses the Power of Retail to Support Communities Experiencing Food Insecurity
Global apparel retailer, UNIQLO, is proud to announce their partnership with Feeding America®to help provide 2 million meals to local Feeding America partner food banks to benefit communities experiencing food insecurity nationwide. UNIQLO is turning the power of fashion consumption into a force for good in choosing to support the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the United States and joining in Feeding America's effort to give back to this major cause.
From January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025 UNIQLO has committed to a minimum donation of $200,000 to the organization and its partner food bank network. UNIQLO commits to donate $150,000 up front, while the remaining $50,000 will be raised through in-store pin pad donations during customer transactions. These donations will be turned on during key activation periods throughout the year, during which UNIQLO corporate and store teams around the country will also volunteer at local Feeding America network food banks as a part of this partnership.
“Our partnership with Feeding America underscores our mission to make a positive difference in the communities we serve,” said Jean Shein, Global Director of Sustainability. “By contributing the equivalent of 2 million meals, we aim to bring tangible relief to people who need it most and shine a light on the importance of collective action.”
Donating the equivalent of 2 million meals in 2025, UNIQLO collaborates with the Feeding America network of 200 food banks, 21 partner state associations, and over 60,000 partner agencies, food pantries and meal programs in helping the tens of millions of people who experience food insecurity gain access to the food and resources they say they need to thrive. In 2023, 47.4 million people-1 in 7 people-experienced food insecurity in the U.S. and neighbors facing hunger indicates that cost of living, housing, employment, health and other factors-like the end of pandemic-era relief efforts-are among the top reasons why it's increasingly difficult to afford and access the food they need to survive.
“We are grateful to UNIQLO for their commitment to supporting communities across the United States, said Lauren Biedron, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. “Their generous contribution of 2 million meals will provide critical assistance to individuals and families facing hunger, helping them gain access to the food and resources they need to thrive. Together, we can work toward a future where no one has to worry about their next meal.”
This partnership between UNIQLO and Feeding America highlights the importance of community-driven efforts to combat food insecurity and the brand's ongoing commitment to creating positive social impact. UNIQLO and Feeding America first worked together in response to the wildfires in Maui in August of 2023. During this time, UNIQLO turned on the donation function at the point of transaction in their stores to raise funds to support Maui Food Bank through Feeding America. In total, they raised $68,897 which was then matched by UNIQLO.
By leveraging the power of retail, UNIQLO is not only offering quality, accessible clothing but also helping to ensure that millions of individuals across the United States have access to the food they need to thrive. UNIQLO's partnership with Feeding America underscores its dedication to corporate social responsibility and the belief that small actions can have a meaningful impact.
