Eagle Air Aviation, a charter and organ air transportation aviation company, has announced the acquisition of its third Cessna Citation CJ2 jet, increasing its fleet capacity by more than 30 percent. Air transportation of donor organs is crucial for careful delivery of organs during emergency, time-sensitive situations. With Wheels Up's recent acquisition of GrandViewand that company's transition to solely charter travel, there is one less major player in the organ air transplant business, impacting several organ transplant entities and their customers. Eagle Air Aviation's addition of its third citation jet marks the company as a Mid-Atlantic industry leader in organ air transportation.
Tyler Sigel, Eagle Air Aviation COO and Co-Founder, said, “The addition of this Cessna Citation CJ2 jet increases our organ flight capacity significantly. Because of recent industry changes impacting the availability of organ air transportation, our ownership group added this third Citation jet to continue reliably transporting organs for those in need. We're proud to maintain Eagle Air Aviation as the most capable and cost-effective organ air transportation business in the Mid-Atlantic.”
The Cessna CJ2 is known for its speed, comfort, and efficiency, making it a popular choice for charter and mission-critical travel. The aircraft has a normal range of 1,600 nautical miles, a cruising speed of 460 miles per hour, can carry seven passengers, and 1,100 pounds of luggage or cargo.
Eagle Air Aviation prides itself on better than “just in time” transportation. According to Sigel, “Often our jets will pick up a team of doctors at another airport and then fly to a different city where the medical team harvests a desperately needed organ. Then, with the protected organ destined for transplant, the team is flown to another city, where the doctors operate on the waiting patient. This mission is the definition of time-critical. Fast, economical, and safe jets make it possible.”
Sigel added that Eagle Air Aviation has helped save numerous lives through its prioritization of high-quality Citation jets for organ transplants, and plans to continue expanding these services.
