Deadline to Apply for a Special Ballot Approaches

— For the by-election currently under way in Cloverdale-Langley City (British Columbia), Elections Canada has put measures in place to ensure that electors can still vote by mail despite the service disruption at Canada Post. It may take longer than usual for electors to receive and return their special ballots, so they are encouraged to plan ahead.

— The deadline toapply to vote by special ballot(e.g. vote by mail or at the local Elections Canada office) isTuesday, December10, 6p.m.

— Those wishing to vote by mail who apply by the deadline will be sent a special ballot voting kit and given options for returning their completed ballot by courier. They can also return it in person at the local Elections Canada office in Cloverdale-Langley Citybefore polls close on election day.

— Canadian citizens who are at least 18years old and who reside in the riding of Cloverdale-Langley City from Monday, November11, 2024, to election day, Monday,December16, 2024, are eligible to vote.

Returning special ballots by courier:

— Electors who want to vote by special ballot and return it by courier shouldapply for a special ballot voting kitas soon as possible. Electors need to allow enough time to submit their application, receive their special ballot voting kit and send their completed ballot to Elections Canada.

— Electors in Cloverdale-Langley City can complete an application online. They can also call Elections Canada to request a paper form,print one from the websiteor get one at the Elections Canada office in Cloverdale-Langley City. Electors must include proof of their identity and address with their application.

— These electors must make sure to return their completed special balloteither by courier (deadlines apply) or in person at the local Elections Canada officebefore polls close on election day, Monday, December16, 2024.

— Electors whose address is in Cloverdale-Langley City but who will be away from the riding on voting days, or who live abroad, canapply onlineor by fax. These electors must make sure to return their completed ballot kit to Elections Canada headquarters by Monday, December16, 2024, 6p.m.(Eastern time).

— After approving an elector's application to vote by special ballot, Elections Canada will contact the elector to provide courier options and then send them their special ballot voting kit.

Voting by special ballot at an Elections Canada office:

— Electors can also vote at the local Elections Canada office in Cloverdale-Langley Cityusing the special ballot process. The office is open seven days a week.

— The deadline to apply to vote at the local Elections Canada office is Tuesday, December10, 6p.m. (local time).Electors who apply at the Elections Canada office may vote there at the same time.
